The Oyster Farm Shop

These clean, sheltered waters are the perfect place for an oyster farm, and Ken Rowe is producing plump beauties that are in demand Australia wide, and even overseas.

The morning’s harvest is enough to make a seafood lover swoon.

Oysters aren’t in season all year round, so it’s best to phone ahead to check shop opening times, and see what’s in supply.

Nicolas Baudin’s Restaurant and Bar

Nicolas Baudin’s Restaurant and Bar at the KI Wilderness Retreat near the entrance to Flinders Chase National Park offers a boutique dining experience from the finest island and SA produce.
The bar serves various styles of local cuisines and à la carte dining begins at 6pm.

The Chase Café

The Chase Café is conveniently located at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre and provides a welcome rest stop for visitors to the Western End of Kangaroo Island.
The alfresco dining area is nestled among the sugar gums adjacent to a children's fossil dig pit which provides entertainment for little ones while mum and dad enjoy barista coffee or browse the well-stocked gift shop.
From baguettes baked fresh on the premises daily and local bakery goods to more sustantial sit-down meals, The Chase Cafe caters for all tastes and budgets. Vivonne Bay General Store

As well as being a general store the Vivonne Bay shop is also the home of the famous whiting burger - a fillet of King George whiting (to many regarded as the finest tasting fish in the sea) in a bun filled with salad complemented with a delicate sauce.

There are a range of other dishes on the menu available to eat in or take away. And, importantly, there is a liquor licence which means you have have a reviving beverage with your meal or buy some to go.

Rustic Blue Café

Rustic Blue has a lovely protected deck off of the gallery that looks over the rolling countryside and the kangaroos that shelter in the trees. Many birds come in for water to the various bird baths placed around the immaculate gardens & native bush.

Rustic Blue offers a variety of plunger coffees, leaf teas and lovely cakes. Light meals are also available including antipasto graze plate for two; a variety of dips with olives and gourmet crackers; Italian meatballs with sweet chilli dipping sauce; and winter warmers of red lentil and tomato soup with a damper roll.
